The rock pools are a tidal attraction, so timing matters. The pools are usually most visible and easiest to enjoy around low tide. Check the day's tide before you leave rather than relying on a fixed time.

Magpupungko Rock Pools
Magpupungko is one of Siargao's best-known swimming stops, with natural tidal pools and rock formations on the island's east coast. From General Luna, the ride is typically around 45 minutes in normal conditions.
The ride
A straightforward trip from General Luna.
The trip north from General Luna is an easy island drive for most visitors. Along the way you pass coconut-lined roads and one of Siargao's classic roadside viewpoints, often known as Coconut View.

At low tide, seawater remains in natural pools between the rocks. The setting changes noticeably with the tide, which is part of what makes Magpupungko different from a normal beach stop.
