Cloud 9 in General Luna is Siargao's best-known surf landmark and one of the places that put the island on the international surfing map. Even if you do not surf, the Cloud 9 area is worth visiting for the boardwalk, ocean views and the atmosphere around one of the Philippines' most famous waves.
Cloud 9 is only part of Siargao's surf scene. Depending on swell, wind and tide, surfers also look to breaks around General Luna and elsewhere on the island, including Jacking Horse, Quicksilver, Tuason, Cemetery, Rock Island, Stimpy's, Daku and Pacifico. Conditions can change quickly, so local surf guides are the best source for where to paddle out on a particular day.
The road around Malinao and Secret Beach has become a popular late-afternoon meeting place for surf skating and skateboarding. Locals and visitors gather to ride, watch the sunset and spend time around the small food and drink stalls that appear along the road. It is a very Siargao way to end the day when you want something different from the beach or surf.
The classic island-hopping trip from General Luna visits Guyam Island, Daku Island and Naked Island. The three stops offer very different settings, from coconut palms and beach time to the exposed sandbar of Naked Island. Aggehanan can help guests arrange island-hopping trips.
Magpupungko is known for natural tidal pools and rock formations on Siargao's east coast. Timing matters because the pools are best experienced around low tide; check the tide before making the trip.
Sugba Lagoon is one of Siargao's best-known day trips, with calm blue-green water surrounded by forested islands. Trips normally involve road travel toward Del Carmen followed by a boat ride into the lagoon area.
